A few weeks ago I had an opportunity to interview Joanna Chiu, a journalist based in Hong Kong, working for the German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
Joanna was born in Hong Kong but raised in Canada. Her family, like so many others, fled the PRC after the massacre at Tiananmen Square.
Driven by an almost primordial desire to learn about China, she devoured Chinese history, studied it in university and finally, after earning her Masters in journalism from Columbia, has moved back to China, to work as a foreign correspondent in the world’s most mysterious country. Her story is curious and inspiring.
The kind folks at About.com have once again published one of my profiles of a spectacular woman. Find Joanna’s story here
